Day 13: Beer Tent

30 June 2009

Here’s a tip: don’t have breakfast at the Venetian. It’s inedible. Or at least the one we had was. The Baglady complained, go girl!

Baglady didn’t feel like playing poker so I headed off to O’Shea’s for the lunchtime crapshoot. I didn’t last long, unfortunately: out at the 50/100 level re-raising all-in with A-K vs K-K and no friendly Ace to rescue me. I run goooood. So I caught up with Bag who was playing Pai Gow Poker with Luke while Mel played slots, first at the Flamingo and then as Bill’s. No luck there either: the Bag did $100 while I broke even.

So we did the only possible thing: we went to the beer tent between the two casinos and got some beer in - local brew at $2 a pint with mist dispensers keeping us cool in the desert sunshine. Here’s a nice picture of Mel and Luke in holiday mood and with me looking … looking … as photogenic as ever:

I guess I need a holiday.

But undeterred by photographic accidents the Baglady and I headed over to Harrah’s for the 8pm deep and steep. This was the usual story: no cards, no positions, survived until 400/800 then died playing A-10 from the big blind and pushing on Q-10-x flop. The Bag went out seconds later pushing Q-Q into K-K.

Oh well, it’s obvious that we aren’t going to make a profit on this trip!
