Day 7: Pai Gow

24 June 2009

They are starting to recognise us at Margaritaville for breakfast.
Then it’s off to the Rio - the Baglady is keen to see the Penn & Teller show while we are over here so we need to book up tickets
The box office however is closed until 7pm, so while the Bag has a hairdo in the Rio I head over to the Gold Coast casino next door and spend a happy hour or so playing Pai Gow Poker and winning about $45.

Once she’s through the beauty treatment I drag Baglady over to the Gold Coast as well - out of the side door of the Rio and across both car parks and we are there.

We sit and play Pai Gow all afternoon: it’s a nice friendly table and we are running good. At the end of it I’m another $65 up, the Bag is $40 up and they’ve comped us for the buffet which is very nice too.

The Gold Coast has a different feel again from the casinos on the strip, there are many more locals in there with many different nationalities and accents. This gives it a colonial feel to go with its colonial exterior:

The Gold Coast also has daily poker tournament at 12:00, worth remembering for the future.
